COVID-19 Update
November 4, 2020

Dear Families of Care for Kids Pediatric Dentistry,

We are beyond ready to get back to work and see everyone that we have missed so much! We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and as we look toward resuming your dental visits, we want to update you on our office, it's measured re-opening, and the steps we are taking to ensure we do everything possible to keep our patients and our team healthy. Our top commitment is the safety of our patients, families, and team.

Rigorous infection control has always been a top priority for our practice. Our office follows all current infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

We feel safe to continue care for our patients since we always hold ourselves to the highest standards, not just minimum standards of care. These are dynamic and change often and may require us to modify our protocols and approach to patient care.

We ask for your patience. We had to cancel many appointments during the closure, and we know that there is a strong desire to get your child’s dental care back on track as soon as possible. We have already begun rescheduling patients on a first-canceled-first-rescheduled basis, which is fair, efficient, and will serve everyone with getting back on track.

INFORMATION FOR YOUR VISIT

To help with the efficiency and safety of your child's appointment, please observe the following rules and guidelines from the Texas Dental Board:

- Please stay home and cancel your child’s appointment if anyone in the house has had the following in the last 21 days: a fever, flu-like symptoms (cough, sore throat, muscle aches, shortness of breath, runny nose, headaches, fatigue, weakness), GI symptoms, a loss of taste or smell, or has been around anyone with COVID-19. We are required to have you sign a screening form when you arrive. The pen and sheet will be disinfected between patients.

- Only children with a scheduled appointment and one parent are allowed in the office (this is not our rule as we typically like to welcome everyone, but for now this is necessary).

- Parents and older children (usually 10 years old) are always recommended to wear a face covering or mask. Unfortunately, due to the extreme shortage of masks and other PPE, we are unable to provide you one currently. As a reminder, face coverings can be common household items such as a bandana or even a folded t-shirt if a mask is unavailable.

Sincerely,
Dr. Patrick and Dr. Nancy
